We used to make this when we were kids - no coconut though. I loved it...I should probably make it with mine :D

Thanks very much for all your comments. It's interesting to hear how this recipe has travelled. I think it would work very well if you made your own variations and it's the sort of thing that even if it goes wrong it's still perfectly edible.
